COLLECTION AND USE OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

This document is to be read in conjunction with the Standard Self Storage Agreement (SSSA); it forms part of the legal relationship between you (the Storer) and the Owner/Facility, its employees and any other person entitled to enforce the SSSA.

YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We collect, retain and use your Personal Information to provide storage services and administer your account. Personal Information we collect may include your:

  • name;
  • date of birth;
  • residential or postal address;
  • telephone number;
  • email address;
  • driver licence number and details;
  • passport number and details; and
  • payment and account information.
  • Where necessary to administer your account, including processing refunds or settling outstanding balances, we may also collect financial information such as bank account details, including account name, BSB and account number. We will only collect such information where reasonably necessary for our business functions and activities.

You may choose not to provide certain Personal Information; however, this may affect our ability to provide storage services to you or process transactions on your account.

We may collect your Personal Information directly from you in person, over the telephone, by email, through our website or online forms, or through other lawful means.

All Personal Information is stored securely by the Facility or third-party service providers, including cloud-based and overseas providers, in either electronic or hard copy form. We take reasonable steps to protect Personal Information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure.

AUTHORISATION TO COLLECT, USE AND DISCLOSE INFORMATION

  1. The Facility may collect, retain and use information about you, including your Personal Information and ongoing storage and payment history, for the purposes of:
    1. providing storage services to you;
    2. maintaining and administering your account, including processing refunds and payments;
    3. operating and conducting our business;
    4. verifying your identity;
    5. enforcing our rights under the Storage Agreement; and
    6. complying with legal and regulatory obligations.
  2. The Facility may disclose information about you, including your Personal Information, to:
    1. government departments;
    2. law enforcement agencies, including police;
    3. any person who can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Facility a legal or equitable interest in goods stored;
    4. liquidators, administrators or other persons appointed to administer the Storer’s financial affairs;
    5. debt collection agencies and recovery services;
    6. your Alternate Contact Person;
    7. agents or contractors acting on behalf of any of the above;
    8. Public Self Storage Pty Ltd (ACN 615 273 704) and any related bodies corporate;
    9. Storer Check Pty Ltd (see below);
    10. third-party service providers assisting us with payment processing, account administration, refunds, information technology, cloud storage or business operations; or
    11. any entity authorised or required by law to receive your information.
  3. Where you provide details of an Alternate Contact Person, you warrant that:
    1. you have authority to disclose their Personal Information;
    2. you have informed them of this disclosure;
    3. the Facility may use their information as it uses your Personal Information; and
    4. they may access and correct their Personal Information in accordance with this policy.

MARKETING

The Facility may use your contact details, including email addresses and telephone numbers, to contact you regarding products, services and promotions for up to five years following the commencement of your Storage Agreement.

If you do not wish to receive marketing communications, you may opt out at any time by contacting the Facility by phone, email or mail.

The Facility will not sell your Personal Information.

COMPLAINTS

If you have a complaint regarding the Facility’s handling of your Personal Information or believe we have breached your privacy, you may contact us by phone, email or in person.

The Facility will investigate complaints fairly and efficiently and seek to resolve them within a reasonable timeframe.

STORER CHECK PTY LTD (“STORER CHECK”)

This Facility subscribes to the Storer Check system. By applying to store with this Facility, you agree to the following:

  1. The Facility may search the Storer Check database for information held about you. The Facility may refuse storage or terminate your Storage Agreement if you are listed with Storer Check.
  2. The Facility may release or update details and Personal Information held about you to Storer Check, including but not limited to:
    1. your name;
    2. current and previous addresses;
    3. email address;
    4. driver licence details;
    5. passport details;
    6. date of birth; and
    7. storage and payment history.
  3. Your details and Personal Information may be released to Storer Check where you breach your Storage Agreement or engage in illegal or threatening conduct, including but not limited to:
    1. non-payment of storage fees;
    2. abandonment or dumping of goods;
    3. repeated late payments;
    4. abusive or threatening conduct towards staff or other storers;
    5. police involvement, including search warrants affecting you, the Facility or your storage space; or
    6. any other breach of the Storage Agreement.
  4. The Facility may use information provided by you during your application or at any later time to update any listing you may have with Storer Check.

If you do not consent to these terms, you should not apply for storage with this Facility.

By applying to store with this Facility, you consent to the terms of this document and the terms published by Storer Check at www.storercheck.com, including the Facility’s right to search for and disclose information to Storer Check in accordance with those terms.

YOUR RIGHTS

You may access and request correction of your Personal Information by:

  • providing reasonable notice to the Facility;
  • attending the Facility; or
  • notifying the Facility in writing of any inaccuracies and providing corrected information.
